Sober Powered Listener Survey Jan 2025
Estimated time ~1 min. It’s only 4 multiple choice questions!
I will address some of the open ended responses (optional to add a comment) on this page, so check back if you’d like to see updates:
First, thank you for all the kind words. They mean a lot
“I love the scientific foundational info in the podcasts; however, if I were to fine-tune the content towards my own preferences I would abbreviate that part somewhat to allow more time for the psychological, therapeutic, "how to do the work right now on a daily basis in a practical sense" parts.”- this is what my community and private coaching are designed for
“I really value your work, would you consider Patreon? I’ve bought you coffee but not ready for the community or one on one. Would love to support you somewhere in the middle (maybe it’s available and I haven’t seen it?)”- there’s a membership option on my Buy Me A Coffee page where you can contribute monthly $5 support. It really helps with the expenses of putting all of this together and hosting it, and your support makes it possible for me to continue to offer so much for free. I appreciate this. A common misunderstanding is that creators get paid by the podcasting apps and social media, we do not. We have to pay them in many cases.
“I want to hang out with you in community someday! Thank you!”- come hang out! We’re doing a community-only retreat in San Diego at the end of April, so we can hang out for real too!
“I just found you lol so I'm still exploring. I'm trying to get sober but very cautious of who I follow when it comes to that. There's lots of shaming I've come across from others and I already feel it so don't want to pile on more. I love your content so far”- I am very sorry to hear this. No one should be doing any shaming. I hope you have unfollowed those pages. Because alcohol use disorder exists on a spectrum, there are different types of sober people that you will encounter. Some struggled more than others. Some could moderate and chose to quit for health reasons. Some use other substances. It’s important to keep context in mind when you are deciding who to spend your time with.
“I think you should really talk about how HARD it is in the beginning to quit. The sobriety community talks so much how great life is once sober however it’s like they forget how hard it actually is to quit! More on tips and tricks and how to get over INTENSE cravings.”- I think I talk about both, check out episodes 241, 218, 211, and 128 for cravings, and episodes 254, 251, 250, 248, and 245 for how difficult it is to get sober.
