Support isn’t for Weak-Willed Losers, it’s for People Who Take Sobriety Seriously

A sober community for men and women who have made the decision to quit drinking and are looking for support as they learn the tools and coping skills for what comes next. This is not a sober curious community or a place to pursue moderation.

“I was told of the existence of sober powered and Gill’s podcast by my therapist, as we spoke about my struggles with alcohol. I did some digging of my own, and joined the community soon after. Best thing I’ve done on my journey to sobriety. You’re going to make friends, give and receive support and encouragement, and you’ll be glad you took this big step towards getting and staying sober.”

After I joined the community, I’ve embarked upon my longest sober streak in years. I really appreciated the accountability of posting in the under 30 days group, the motivation of leaving the under 30 group, and I take inspiration from reading other peoples’ experiences, joys, setbacks, and advice. This group has really given me hope that I’m done with alcohol for good.”

Why Living a Sober Powered Life?

Small Meetings

Our meetings are small (~15-30 people) so everyone who wants to share has the opportunity to. Don’t want to share? No problem! You are welcome to leave your camera off until you are ready.

No Tough Love

We do not do tough love here (unless you want it)

True Accountability and Support

Our motto is “support others and they will support you” We want you to remember we care about you when cravings or the fk its hit! Some of our members don’t drink because they don’t want to tell us about it! This is a shame-free zone.

Extra Small Groups

We have even smaller meetings (4-15 people) for: under 90 days, over 6 months, men’s only, women’s only. See our current schedule below.

Under 90 Days Group

We have weekly meetings only for people under 90 days and a private space for posts.

6 Month + Group

We have weekly meetings for people over 6 months and a private space for posts. The over 6 months group focuses on “the work”, thoughts of trying to moderate, and it’s a safe place to be honest without worrying about discouraging newbies.

“I have been checking in A LOT on the app because I am really feeling great - I've never heard my own thoughts and actions reflected by others and it's had my jaw on the floor more then once. THANK YOU!!” -Dana

“Second meeting tonight and I am so grateful for this community you built. This is what I have been missing and looking for. Thank you” -NM

“This community is really having an impact on me. I had a drinking dream for the 1st time last night. I had a glass of wine in my hand and I was so close to giving in so I reached for my phone to post about it on the circle because I knew you guys could talk me out of it. Thanks! 😂😂😂” - Diane

Find True Connection and Support While You Get Sober and Do “The Work”

I’ve cruised a handful of other AF group meetings over the past 8 months (as I’m sure a lot of us have) and the ones with Sober Powered are special to me because of:

+ Host/moderator quality! Wow!

+ Helpful themes/conversation topics

+ Participants being respectful: not interrupting, being conscious of how long their share is and frequency

+ Keeping the content focused on AF journeys, with the occasional other share

+ Vulnerability and honesty level

+ Humor!

+ Positivity, without being toxic/false positivity

and more.

I know there are all kinds of groups and ways to run them, but SP seems extra unique and of high quality to me.

Living a Sober Powered Life has been recognized by Circle (the platform we host our community is on) as a Platinum Community. This means that we are in the top 10% of most engaged communities on Circle. People stay longer, remain active in the community, have conversations in the DMs, and attend more meetings than in most communities. This won’t be another group that you’ll join and ghost. We want to help you integrate into the group and become a cherished part of the community.

You’ve tried it on your own. How about trying something different?

“I *never* thought I would be the type to join a sober community or go to meetings. I thought the advice you see in quit lit and other sobriety content out there that it's absolutely necessary to find community and connection...I firmly believed it didn't apply to me and I was fine doing it alone. I was almost a year and a half sober before I joined this community and I so badly wish I had joined sooner. I'm surprised but so grateful that I immediately felt so connected to this community and the connection continues to grow. I've been a member of Living a Sober Powered Life for almost 6 months now and the group meetings are a pillar of my sobriety.”

FAQS

  • Is this membership just for women?

Nope! This is for everyone. My audience is about 75% women and the membership reflects that split. Some of my most active members are men, and there are men in our meetings.

  • Is everyone really young?

We have had members in their 20’s all the way up to members in their 70’s. Whatever your age is, you will find others in the group like you.

  • Can I stay anonymous?

Absolutely. Circle allows you to customize your own profile. Feel free to use a screenname and whatever profile image you’d like (we love pets here). You can attend meetings with your camera off too if that helps you feel more comfortable.

  • What if I'm not very tech-savvy?

Circle is pretty easy to navigate and can be done on your computer, on your phone via the internet, or inside an app on your phone. It looks similar to Facebook, so there isn’t a learning curve. I have a comprehensive FAQ doc in the community explaining everything too

  • Is this like your podcast?

Yes and no. This is not group coaching and I do not lecture during these meetings. This is a support community. The under 30 days meeting end up being a hybrid between a support meeting and group coaching

  • What is your refund policy?

I do not offer refunds, but you can easily cancel your membership at any time in Circle (where you sign up). Members are responsible for managing their subscriptions.

  • Is this for the Sober Curious?

No. This community is for people who know they want to quit drinking and are looking for accountability, support, and feedback along the journey. This isnt a place to figure out if you want to quit or moderate. If you’re sober curious, please listen to my podcast.

  • I struggle with other substances/behaviors. Can I join?

This community is for people who’s primary issue is with alcohol. While we do have members that struggle with multiple things, this community is very focused on alcohol.
