“I Expected to Have More Energy by Now”
That’s a lot of pressure to put on your sobriety.
Early sobriety fatigue is one of the most common experiences when someone quits drinking. However, many of us expect that by 2-4 weeks in we should feel amazing and that’s not always the case. Some return to drinking because the brain fog and exhaustion is too much to handle, so don’t let that happen to you. All drinking does is reset how long you have to struggle with your early sobriety exhaustion.
Why Am I So Tired After Quitting Drinking?
Feeling tired after you quit drinking is so frustrating because you did it, you quit drinking! Shouldn’t you be able to enjoy your life now? It’s annoying that we are too tired to do anything. People have told me that this is the most tired they have felt in their entire life.
There are a few reasons why we are tired after quitting alcohol too.
The simplest one is that you beat up your body with alcohol, poor nutrition, and low quality sleep for years.
How Long Does Sobriety Fatigue Last?
Everyone is different, so I can’t tell you exactly when you will have more energy.
What I can tell you though is I’ve generally seen people in my community stop complaining about fatigue around the 3-4 month mark. If your fatigue feels debilitating or lasts several months, then this is a good thing to discuss with your doctor just in case.
I can also tell you about the day to day choices, stressors, and thoughts you have that drain your energy. That’s why I created this course: to help you understand why you’re tired after quitting drinking and learn how to adjust the things that are under your control that will give you more energy.
